Big day yesterday in American history. Our Congress gave the President the power to arrest ("detain") anyone he wants (including American citizens), hold them for as long as he wants without charges, and torture them. Any Congressperson with even a shred of morality should have run from the chamber retching; but not only did the bill pass comfortably in both Houses, but many Democrats voted for it -- including Nebraska's Ben Nelson. (Republicans were expected to vote in lock-step with the White House as they always do, and they did -- including Nebraska's Tom Osborne and Jeff Fortenberry in the House, and Chuck Hagel in the Senate; oh, and also John McCain, after first making his phony anti-torture charade.) Habeas corpus -- the right of a prisoner to be officially charged with a crime in court and not be imprisoned indefinitely without charges -- is one of the things we broke from England over in 1776. It is a right that Americans have died for. The Supreme Court in 1992 said the "writ of habeas corpus is the fundamental instrument for safeguarding individual freedom against arbitrary and lawless state action." And yet, to paraphrase Senator Leahy (D) yesterday on the Senate floor, two hundred years of law went out the window after a mere ninety minutes of debate. (He followed that with the cry, "My God!")

And this is not even touching the subject of torture. Is it too much to ask that an American Congressperson should be against torture? I guess it is.

So what's happening here? Bush is trying to pardon himself. Violating the Geneva Convention is a felony, in some cases punishable even by death. Bush has routinely and repeatedly flouted the Geneva Convention by torturing prisoners in prison camps hidden around the world. Lately the Red Cross has succeeded in talking with some of these prisoners. When their stories get out, Bush's defiance of the Geneva Convention will be out in black and white. So to avoid prosecution, he has jammed this bill through Congress (making what he did "legal") in the week before Congress adjourns. Why the rush? If he pushed the bill after November, when the Democrats are expected to gain control of the Congress, his little torture bill wouldn't have passed. (Why did so many Democrats vote for the bill now? Fear. The cowards thought if they voted against it, the Republicans would call them "soft on terror." Which of course they will, but you've lost your soul to maybe win an election.) All these criminals have to go....

Hey everybody! Sorry, I haven't really been tuning in much at all lately. I've been kind of busy. I've been doing a lot of homework, school during the day, oh and Gary, I've been drawing the Simpsons characters. My uncle Dan has seasons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7, and I asked him if I could like switch them to see each one, and I would pause the dvd, then I would draw the characters free hand. My dad says that they are really good, and he likes them a lot, he said that Krusty the Clown was his favorite one. I also like the quote you put on the front page, it made me laugh a lot! Also, since I haven't really been up to date with you guys, I will talk about what is totally cool that I got for my birthday, and about my room too. Well for my birthday from my parents, they got me a blue and white cover (wink wink). Ok, well for those of you who might not know, I got a black Ipod! It's so cool, I love it a lot!!! So far I have 122 songs on it, but I still have a lot to go, I am just waiting to see when is a good time to get a lot more downloaded on there. Now about my room, I decided on everything, well almost everything I guess. Well first things first, me, my mom, and my dad, we all went up to Omaha to look for flooring, and we got a wood floor that mostly matches my dressers, only a little darker. I picked out my bedspread, if I got one of course (I will tell you why in a second... Gosh! he he). Also instead of having a pattern or design on my big rug that will cover most of my flooring, I am just going to get a blue shag rug. I have been thinking about how I am going to arrange my room, and since I am no longer going to have that pink and white polka dot bean bag chair anymore, I will get like a small couch (not like a living room couch, like a couch to chill in) or I saw a really comfy big blue beanbag chair, only better. Ok, now I will tell you why a maybe on the bedspread, the day of the air show, me mom, and dad, we all took my uncle Dan home, because he rode with us, and I just happen to try out his cool comfy waterbed, and I told my parents that I wanted one, and they said that they would look, and last night we did and we found a really neat one too! Wow, look at the time, I better get going, well I promise that I will get on really soon to tell you more details about my room, talk to you all later!!!!!

Welcome back, Livy -- the newsletter has been quiet without you! :-) Can't wait to see your Simpsons art. --Gary

I love today's quote. It makes me smile every time I read it.

Apologies for commenting on every one of your posts, but I can tell this story as I was the one who heard it. Teghan wanted some milk, and moved purposefully to the refrigerator. I asked her if she needed some help, and she said no. And she didn't: She carefully poured a little glassful, and then put the carton back. And then she said, "When I pour the milk, I feel like a mom." --Gary

But either way, Newsweek is selling out -- for sales or because they don't want to upset the right wing conservatives. Is Newsweek giving a reason for the two covers? I suppose Disney owns Newsweek too. I saw more of the Clinton interview last night on Olberman. Pretty good. And I loved Olberman's special comment.

Haven't heard Newsweek on the subject; but yeah, the corporate ownership might tell the story. Olbermann was in fine form last night, again; "The end of the free ride!" --Gary

Oh, this is good. (Sorry to be filling up this page today, but I'm finding lots of good stuff on the various internets!)

Newsweek magazine is sold around the world, like many major magazines. But take a look at the covers appearing on this week's issue. Everywhere but the U.S., the cover story is on how the U.S. is "Losing Afghanistan"; but here in the U.S., the cover story is about Annie Liebowitz, the photographer. Don't want to mention a Bush failure this close to the election, do we? Yeah, it could be just about sales: Americans don't want to buy a magazine with a scary A-rab on the cover... But I doubt that.

Gary
9/26/06
Okay, this is way cool. Sean, can you rig one of these up for me??

Hmmm, are we sure that Teghan is only playing "101 Dalmatians" on Grandma's computer....? See this.

I saw a little of Clinton's reaction to Wallace's question about Bin Laden where he leaned into him and tapped his knee and quite loudly told him that HE was the closest to killing Bin Laden than any one since. But that was all I have heard on it. It is, indeed, a top ten day if there ever was one! I may have to prune something just to get outside. I have a new table and chairs, that everyone knows about, but WE discovered a crack in the table and so I called the furniture place which certainly surprised her and she will call me as soon as she contacts the salesman or the factory. I want to congratulate Emily too! I think you are having a fun year! Looking forward to your UNL visit. I do remember the great vacations I was able to enjoy when I was at UNL also. I better get outside and see what is going on. Filled the bird feeders and the birds are hungry, had cardinals and jays this morning and a variety this p.m. the doves and wrens are eating the spillover plus the squirrels and 4 rabbits at once. I anticipate a long cold winter.

Emily, I heard you were 4th runner up for homecoming. So, you're not only smart, you're popular too! Just like me when I was in high school. Oh no wait, not like me at all. Maybe there'll be a small flu outbreak in the SC area and you'll move up. ;-) Congratulations!!!

So Gary, what do you think about the big news yestarday--Clinton attacking poor Chris Wallace in his Fox interview? I've only seen parts of it so far. I heard that Clinton called Wallace a mouthpiece for Fox. Wish I could have seen that.

Yeah, Wallace is pretty sleazy. The Crooks and Liars website has the first 20 minutes of the interview posted (about halfway down the page), but you may have to save it to disk and then play it; their link seemed goofed up to me. Clinton was (understandably) miffed because he'd been lied to. Wallace, I understand, invited him on to speak about the Global Initiative thing that Clinton organized -- and which raised over 7 billion dollars for poverty relief, global warming research, etc. -- but on-air Wallace ignored all that and pursued the premise of the ABC 9/11 fantasy movie, asking why his administration didn't catch Osama. Clinton laid into him (other Democratic "leaders," please take a lesson) and pointed out he'd done far more to capture Osama than the current administration has. I heard that Wallace ran -- literally, ran -- out of the studio after the interview was over so he wouldn't have to face Clinton. Almost as bad, I saw the NBC recap of this on the Today show this morning; they played a clip of Clinton reacting, calling Wallace's tactics a "Conservative smear-job" or such like, and then the reporter's voiceover was something like, "Mr. Clinton lost his cool and tried to make a point -- but all that viewers will remember is the anger." Words very much like that. Yet who, other than Keith Olbermann, even mentioned Bush's temper tantrum with David Gregory in the Rose Garden last week? No question: The media is owned by the right-wing! --Gary

To quote one of my favorite lines from "The Ten Commandments," one of the shepherd girls says, "I wish EVERY day could be a shearing festival!" Except for "shearing festival" substitute "September day like this one." Absolutely perfect weather -- can't think of one thing I would change, even if I had the power to do. Just came back to my office from lunch, and really had to argue with myself to go back.

Speaking of time off, I enjoyed my recent ten-day vacation so much that I'm going to do it again: I'll be taking the last week of November, which means (by tacking on the Thanksgiving holiday) I'll have eleven consecutive days off. By that time the Dems will have gained control of the House and/or Senate, so I'll have time to watch the impeachment hearings. Knock wood!

That's all that's happening in my world. I would report on yesterday's air show, but I didn't go. Or I would report on the new table I bought for my dining room, but I didn't do that. Or I would report on the goal I scored in my last soccer game, but I didn't do that either. Maybe someone else did? :-)

Been busy. I don't think Ryan feels unemployed yet because he is trying to keep his head above water carting the girls here & there & everywhere... Plus 5 senior level classes keep him pretty busy. He will graduate in less than 3 months though!
I'm just trying to adjust to working, STILL! I love the job, just hate being gone 42.5 hours a week! House, we decided to build. Actually have the lot picked out & the floor plan. Its shaping up to be a little bigger than what we started with, but I think we will be pretty happy with it. Here is a link to the plan. Its been changed a bit, and we are finishing the space above the garage into two rooms, toy room & office. The contract we signed with the builder says we will be done by February 28th, but it could be sooner. I hope so & I bet Grandma does too. I bet she wants her house back to quiet & calm. I told her she could kick us out anytime! I was curious about Hatgidakis' too.

Gary, your story made me laugh, thanks for making my day :) It has been a dreary, rainy day -- I needed a smile.
Amanda -- Ryan, how is the house search going? Are you going to build?
Hatgidakis, what is going on with you? Haven't heard from any of you lately.

Get ready for some numbers:
You may be hearing (as I did just this morning on NBC's Today Show) that Bush is "bouncing back" in the polls, because the Gallup poll shows his approval rating climbing from 32% to 44% in the last ten days since September 11 and his campaign of terror-speeches. (FYI, Gallup is the only poll showing Bush in the 40s; other polls show him staying about the same, in the low-to-mid 30s.)

But even if he has "bounced" way up to 44%, how about putting that in historical context:

  • At the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal, Bill Clinton's job approval ratings were in the low 70s.
  • On the eve of President John F. Kennedy's 1963 assassination, he was suffering the worst job approval ratings of his presidency -- 58 percent.
  • In 1968, when the war in Vietnam was claiming hundreds of U.S. casualties each week, President Lyndon Johnson was considered so unpopular that he didn't even run for re-election. Johnson's average Gallup approval rating for that year was 43 percent.
  • When Reagan's second term was rocked by the Iran-Contra scandal, his ratings plummeted all the way down to 43 percent.

The only presidential approval ratings lower than Bush's that I could find were Nixon's -- just before his resignation -- at 27%; and yet not only does the press not point this out, they instead talk about a "bounce" up to 44 like it is a great success story. Yeesh!

Here are some promising numbers from the latest CBS/NYTimes poll:

  • Only 18% say things are going better today than they were five years ago, with an overwhelming 60% saying things are worse today.
  • Bush's ratings on his handling of the war on terror have not gone up since August. Only 12% of registered voters think Bush is telling the truth about how things are going in Iraq.
  • Democrats have a fifteen-point edge in the generic ballot question (50%-35%), a five-point increase since July. 75% of registered voters think it is time for new people in Congress.
  • 68% of the respondents said that they couldn't name one thing that Congress had done in the last year that stood out in their minds. And 63% said they would be voting based on national issues rather than a candidate's position on local issues, dealing a blow to the GOP's hopes of localizing each race.
  • Democrats are perceived already as being likely to win more seats than the Republicans (by a 54%-32% margin), thereby overcoming the image of being losers.
  • 62% think it matters a great deal who controls Congress.
  • Hillary has a higher favorability rating (32%) than John McCain (28%).
  • 52% of registered voters have a favorable opinion of the Democratic Party, whereas only 40% have a favorable opinion of the GOP. By a 2-1 margin, respondents thought the Democratic candidates would tell the truth about Iraq as compared to GOP candidates.

    Just something to think about!

Tales of Apartment Life, Chapter 19:
So on Tuesday I went home at lunchtime, and as I was getting out of my car the apartment handyman arrived in his truck. He told me he was there to do some repairs in one of the vacant apartments. (There are six apts in my building, with I think three vacant right now.) Anyway, he informed me that on Thursday they were coming over to spray the whole building for bugs, so I should take all the food and dishes out of my cupboards and wrap them up in plastic and leave them in the middle of the floor. I thought to myself it would have been nice to have a little more warning, but c'est la vie. So I took Wednesday afternoon off and spent that afternoon and evening pulling everything out of the cupboards and drawers, wrapping everything, and piling it in the middle of the living room floor. Then I pulled all the furniture and everything away from all the baseboards. Got finished with everything around 9 pm, exhausted, but hey, a job well done!

This morning, as an afterthought, I called my landlord and said while your guys are in the apartment today spraying, would you have them take a look at the bathroom sink faucet, which has developed a slow drip. There was silence on the other end for a couple of seconds. He said, We're not spraying your building. I said, Your guy told me they were coming over today and to bag up all my food and everything. He said, Oh no, we're spraying another building, not yours.... Then he asked, Have you seen any bugs? I said, I haven't seen a single bug as long as I've lived there. Then he apologized profusely, and I got the feeling the handyman was going to get in a little trouble. I laughed it off -- this is the guy who can raise or lower my rent, after all -- and said no big deal. And in fact, it did force me to do some "deep" cleaning which I hadn't done in a while; I filled three garbage bags with trash and non-essentials last night. So all in all, it was good... I guess. :-)

Today's picture is more disturbing than those strange girls chugging Ranch dressing yesterday. Bush is a moron! I'm beginning to think that his body was taken over by aliens. It's the only scenario that makes sense.

I heard somewhere (Olberman, maybe?) that Gore has a book coming out next Spring and that the timing of the book is causing some to wonder if he'll run for president.

I'm thinking Gore would be a good choice. I mean, (a) he already beat Bush once, in 2000! and (b) all he would have to do in the campaign is stand at a podium -- his mere presence says "I told you so!" A lot of people are identifying Hillary as the front-runner, but I think that is being kept alive by Republicans for whom it is wishful thinking. They would love to run against Hillary so they could dust off their old Clinton-bashing tactics and do Whitewater and Lewinsky all over again. As much as I think Hillary would be a good president, and as much as I would like to see a woman president (if only to rub the far right's face in it), I don't think she's the one to run in 2008. Too much baggage. I'm liking Gore/Edwards. Or Gore/Obama. I have nothing against Kerry, except his early concession during a very suspicious vote count in 2004, and his announcement -- just last week! -- that he is going to "kick the Swift-Boaters' ass!" Two years too late, JK! --Gary

Gary, did you see Olberman's special comment last night about Bush? It was pretty good.

Yeah, he's getting more and more aggressive with Bush -- and a good thing, too, in my humble opinion. It is getting to be fun watching the Republicans run away screaming from Bush. On Scarborough last night (which I don't usually watch, but last night Bill Maher was on to talk about his non-appearance in the "Free Speech" segment of Katie's News & Coffee Shop), Maher once referred to Bush as "your boy." Scarborough went purple, and ranted "He's not 'my boy,' I disagreed with him on this, and that, and this, and that... etc." Until finally Maher actually apologized, just to calm him down I think. I cannot wait til the elections! :-) Only 49 days away.... --Gary

Grandma my ear is doing a lot better!!! Today was suppose to be school pictures. This is what happened, in 2nd period they told us that the photographers never showed up. They called at 8:30 (45 min. after school started) and said they wouldn't come today. They over schedualed, and were up in Minneapolis. Tonight is my first dance class, but I think I will go into a younger class, because i'm the only one signed up for this class.

Yeah, I've had the whole week off and I've hardly written a word here. No excuse! But it has been -- and still is! -- great. I don't think I've ever had ten days in a row with nothing to do. (I do get ten days or so off at Christmas, but there's always something happening then.) And I'll be doing this all over again in early December, thanks to a surplus of use-or-lose vacation days. Had an excellent afternoon yesterday: Mom and I were all over town taking care of some errands (Bed Bath & Beyond, Havelock Furniture, UPS, library) after an excellent lunch at Macaroni Grill. In short, this has been a great week. I highly recommend it: I think you all should take a week off. :-)

Seems to be getting along very well with them and best of all -- she can now see!! So, Gary -- what have you been doing with your week off? I sorta thought he might, we used to have cats that would be gone the whole summer and show up in the barn when it got cold or they got hungry. They are strange little critters. Teghan and I filled bird feeders yesterday, sure made the squirrels happy. Chilly here this morning, but I am not complaining. How are you feeling, Erika? Hope your ear isn't hurting.

Hi every this has been a good day for us. It has been 9 days since we have seen Napoleon (one of the outside cats), and we all thought he ran away, but today Emily came running inside saying "look who I found outside," and she was holding Napoleon!! He was really hungry, but other than that hes fine. It was a big suprise for all of us, since we all thought that we would never see him again. I think that T.J. (his sister) is happiest to see him.

So did anyone watch part one of the 9/11 mockumentary last night? I didn't. I wonder if many did watch. And don't forget, Bush speaks tonight...

Hmmm, didn't even occur to me that Arnold wouldn't be in the movie -- but he is the Governator now, so they might have to use a computer-generated actor in his place. Most people won't even know the difference! I won't be watching Monkey-man tonight, and will also miss the ABC fairy-tale hour: "Waiting to Exhale" is on BET tonight! ...Or, if I don't watch that, I'll watch something else. --Gary

It has been pretty quiet on here lately, thanks for the entertainment news, Gary! I guess everyone has been busy still getting back into school and everything. It has been pretty busy for us too, but going well.
I was a panelist for the school board canidates' forum last Tuesday for Mayor's Youth Commission, it went pretty well considering there were only 3 people running for 3 open spots. But, I am glad to be done with it. I am not planning on doing much more with MYC until January when seniors leave anyway, so hopefully that will give me some more free time.
Erika and I start dance again this week. We are looking forward to it! Its been a long time since the recital last year!
My online class has been going well too. Dad set up the downstairs computer to have internet and fax, so I will be doing a lot more down there now, it has been working out really well.
And, to further answer Gary's question, we will be in Lincoln on Thursday October 5th, to visit UNL. Maybe we will get to tour Gary's office! Not sure if we will really be around too much to see you guys, but hopefully it will work out!

Please do stop by! Teachers College Hall, room 21. :-) --Gary

Got just a few items of entertainment news, but they're exciting -- to me, anyway:
  • The Hobbit is now definitely in the works -- possibly as a two-part movie (though that feels to me like padding for the purpose of money-making; I hope they limit it to one), and most likely directed by Peter Jackson.
  • But before that movie, Jackson will be doing a re-make of the great WWII movie The Dambusters, about the British project to first invent and then drop specially-made bombs to destroy hydroelectric dams in Germany. The original (1954) was a cool movie, but a state-of-the-art version would be sweet. Mel Gibson may be involved, but that's iffy.
  • Also on the official list now are a Terminator sequel (Terminator 4), a sequel to The Thomas Crowne Affair with Pierce Brosnan, a new James Bond film due out in November 2008, a Steve Martin Pink Panther sequel, and even another Stallone Rocky Balboa movie. How would the movie-makers stay busy without sequels??

Ahh, feels like fall today. Waiting for the game to start. Just put some tastees in crock pot, made a pasta salad and a chocolate sheet cake (hadn't fixed that in years). Had another really good week of school, guess we are getting used to it. Emily is at work today so I'll answer Garys question. Emily is starting to "shop" for colleges and UNL is one of the top 5. So we made an appointment to tour the campus and check out a few things. So we will be in Lincoln on Oct 5 (I think).

Hey everybody! I really like our new computer a lot! Everything just runs so faster now, and I just reallly like it a lot. Also, I got my new iPod last weekend I think. Ya, last weekend. I got a video iPod (that's the regular sized one), and it's black too. I also have a really cool blue and white cover for it. It has such a good sound that my dad wants a nano (a smaller version which holds less songs)! My iPod hold I think 7,500 songs on it, and a lot of music videos, and pictures too. So far, I have 122 songs on it, and pretty soon I am getting more, because we couldn't get the ohter songs on our computer because we haven't downloaded them yet. Oh also, did you all hear about the crocidile hunter? About how he died, because of a stingray, and only at like 44 or something like that, somewhere in the early 40's. I thought it was really sad, because the stingray got scaired and hit him on his heart. Also he had 2 really little kids, too. He was also Austrailla's like one of their favorite people because he did that because he came from there. Wow, well I gotta go, talk to you all later!!!

Look at this article from CNN: Former Clinton officials are complaining about the 'misinformation' in the 9/11 miniseries to ABC.

The 9/11 movie is the opening shot in the November election battle: and true to form, the Republicans are using propaganda tactics worthy of Stalin or Hitler (speaking of Communists and Nazis). This time their swift-boat target is their old favorite, Bill Clinton. I will be very surprised if ABC pulls the show: They've dropped tens of millions on it, and they're obviously not worried about offending a few liberals. And further, ABC has informed some right-wing columnists (interesting how tight ABC is with the right-wing) that minor changes may be made, but the "message of the Clinton Administration failures remains fully intact." I'm now kinda hoping they don't pull it, in fact. If they do, the right-wing nutjobs will howl and cry about how the liberals are promoting censorship, etc. Maybe letting it air will subject it to closer scrutiny than it has already gotten, and all its lies will be exposed. And I'm not really sure how many votes this thing would change, anyway: Most people have pretty much made up their minds one way or the other on Bush and his war -- not many fence-sitters left. And finally, it is interesting that this letter comes from Bruce Lindsey, Clinton's lawyer and close advisor. Maybe Bill is hinting at legal action...? Defamation of character...? Just thinking out loud... --Gary

I don't even know what to comment on the 9/11 mockumentary. It's so ridiculous! Great articles but the Fox (not facts) clip made me mad. I wonder if it will influence voters much. I saw a mini van this morning with a bumper sticker that said 'I miss Bill.' Yeah, I miss him, too.

Another bee-yootiful day today. Love this time of year!

Signs that an election is coming up: 1) Gas prices have been lowered dramatically (more than 60 cents a gallon here in Lincoln) -- coincidence? Hmmm, I wonder... 2) Bush and his fellow criminals are on a non-stop fear rampage: terror terror terrorists Nazis Communists terror Islamo-Fascists terror terror, etc. 3) And the Republicans are reminding us, yet again, that Everything Bad Is Clinton's Fault.

This time the reminder is coming in the form of a "documentary" which ABC will be showing next week called "The Path to 9/11." It was written by a friend and colleague of Rush Limbaugh, who has been promoting the program heavily on his own show. The show pins the blame for 9/11 directly on Bill Clinton. For example, there is a pre-9/11 scene where CIA agents have surrounded Osama bin-Laden somewhere in the desert of Afghanistan; they are ready to swoop in and capture him, but first they radio back to Washington for confirmation; but the cowardly Clinton White House tells them "Oh no, do NOT capture him, you will offend our Arab allies!"; and the CIA guys let him go, thinking the Washington bureaucrats Just Don't Get It. Trouble is, nothing remotely like that scene (along with many other scenes in this thing) ever happened. And Clinton's record on anti-terrorism is FAR better than Bush's: see this article for a long but revealing read; or watch this 4 1/2 minute clip of Gen. Wesley Clark on Fox "News."

Not only is this program being shown without commercials, but it is being given free to every high school teacher in the U.S., along with a letter urging them to show it to their students. ABC also provided advance review copies of the program to friendly, right-wing reviewers, but did not provide them to any reviewer who has been critical of Bush or the war. Why is ABC (and its parent company Disney) propagandizing for the Bushists? Good question. Many people have already complained about this to ABC, including several members of the 9/11 Commission using words like "total fabrication," but all ABC has done so far is remove the show's website.

Remember when Michael Moore showed his "Fahrenheit 9/11" on national TV? Oh wait... he wasn't allowed to... Next time one of your Republican friends complains about the "liberal media," you can paste "The Path to 9/11" on their forehead.

I heard about the crocodile hunter this morning. That is sad news. He always reminded me of Erika. Crikey. (Gary, how abut running the fake picture of Erika and Steve Irwin on the front page sometime?)

It's actually on view now, on the fake photos page. --Gary

Well, we are now down to 9 days until Ryan gets home! It was nice to have him here this weekend. He brought a little bit of stuff & we got to go to the fair (Ryan's family loves the fair, I could take it or leave it) and we got to meet with our realtor & a builder, and we switched the cell phones to Lincoln numbers. Oh, and we helped dad & them buy a new computer & set it up. It was a pretty productive weekend. Now, back to work. Today marks 3 weeks there for me though. Dont know much else, hope Anna has a good 1st day of school & Sam had a good birthday!

Well, we actually went out today and got a new computer. We needed it very badly and were really lucky to have Amanda and Ryan back to help us pick it out and set it up! Having fun getting back on it. Our internet didn't work great on our old one so we weren't on much. Used Amanda's computer a lot for my email. But that's most of our news. School is going pretty good but it's still hard getting into the routine for school. It's really different having a job and working. You really appreciate weekends more!

Everyone must be busy this week-end, not much on the page. We had a busy Saturday -- Erika, Emily and I did lots of shopping, while Brent watched the game. Yesterday we went to Wausa to see Brent's mom. Poor Emily was to have today off, but had to go in, so she wasn't too happy. Glad to have the first week of school done. Went very well, just hard to get back into the routine. Anna -- do you start tomorrow? Sam how did you celebrate your birthday? Lindsey, Olivia, Tristen -- how is your school going?
Sad news this morning -- Steve Irwin -- crocodile hunter died....
