Hey everybody! Well nothing much really here, I just got back from taking Tristen Teghan and Sasha to the park. We had fun. Yesturday Linz, Sam, Tristen, Teghan and me, we all went to Petco because me and Linz were going to get a beta (fish). I got a dark blue male, with big fins, and I named him Storm, because i had a red one before that, and I named him Fire. He even likes his name because I would say like swim around if you like the name Storm, and stay there if you don't, then GO! He swam around, and I also tried other names, but he didn't really like Thunder, but he kind of liked Lightning though. He also likes dogs too, I was playing Gameboy by his fish bowl, and he just stayed there and watched because I was playing the game Dogz, and in that game he saw a cat and swam away (probably because cats eat fish, or the fact that he likes dogs better, both of them work just fine). Well I gotta go, I'm going to go have some chicken noodle soup, talk to you all later!

!!! Happy Birthday Sean !!!

Hey everybody! Last night me, Amanda, Tristen and Teghan all went to Best Buy before we went over to my house to spend the night, and Tristen got the DDR Max (dance dance revalution) game for plastation, and we were playing with it at my house. I had my mat, and her new mat, and we would verse each other a lot. We have had a lot of fun today and last night and stuff. Also Teghan has been the teacher of Donna about beauty and like lipstick and rainforest, it's cute! Well I gotta go, talk to you all later!!!

Note to Tristen: I was going to tell you this last night, but I didn't get to see you. Today is your birthday! :-) Well, it's the birthday of your character in "I Love Lucy" -- today is the birthday of Vivian Vance. Happy Birthday!

And Livy, your (Lucy's) birthday is coming up soon: August 6!

Hey everybody. Last night, Donna and I were talking about the segment on "The Colbert Report" where Colbert interviews Congressmen Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) about his proposed legislation to display the ten commandments in the Senate and House of Representatives chambers. I found a clip and thought y'all might enjoy it. Thou Shalt Click Here.

Looks like everyone is having fun in Lincoln! We are looking forward to our Minneapolis trip. We made the hotel reservation last night, and are starting to get a few other things in line. It will be fun to see the Hatgidakis' and Grandma for a few days! I just hope I am able to get the days off... I agree with Donna, work is stupid :(
I did however manage to get today off. 2 other people from Mayor's Youth Commission and I made another presentation to the County Board of Supervisors today. Still trying to get Beer Keg Ordinances passed... But I think our presentation went pretty well today, it will be intresting to see if anything ever gets done about it.
I also have Teen Court tonight. I heard we have 3 full cases, hopefully they will be intresting ones tonight. And, hopefully everyone can speak English this time!

Great pictures! Where was Linz? What's planned for the rest of the week? I wish I could take some time off while you're here. Stupid work.

I'll see you guys tomorrow night!

Lindsey was there -- just happened to be inside at the time. --Gary

Slow days on the ol' newsletter, it seems. As far as I know, Amanda and Lindsey went to Ames yesterday for the Sam and Anna hand-off, and everybody should have arrived back in Lincoln last night. Filming has not yet started on the I Love Lucy show, but I see that the wardrobe department is active and I think the script is finished. All that's left is assembling the actors, shooting the script, editing it together, and releasing it. Should be big!

And in other entertainment news:

  • The script for Indiana Jones 4 (no official title yet) is nearing completion, and production is expected to start early next year.
  • Lucasfilms is working on a state-of-the-art computer-animated Star Wars television series. The first batch of scripts is complete, and the episodes are actually being produced right now. Expect to see them on TV in 2008. A live-action Star Wars series is set to be televised in 2010.
  • A Superman sequel is being planned for a 2009 release. Very few details are in place yet, though director Bryan Singer is expected to direct again, and it has been hinted this one will have something to do with aliens....
  • Toy Story 3 is just now beginning production. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen will be back to lend their voices to Woody and Buzz Lightyear.
  • A Wonder Woman movie is in the works; still very early -- no script, no one cast in the lead role. But it does seem to be happening.
  • Star Trek XI is in progress. No details on this one, other than it's set for a 2008 release and is a "next generation" movie.
  • And a movie I first mentioned on this page waaaaay back on October 16, 2002 is finally going into production after some ups and downs -- but not as a movie. Vin Diesel's pet project of making a movie on Hannibal of Carthage, regarded by most military experts as the greatest general who ever lived and who nearly conquered Rome, is being turned into an animated TV series which will follow Hannibal's story up from childhood.

Hey everybody! Well we have been working on our Lucy movie, and Gary has the beginning worked out really good, it's in black and white, and it says like Olivia Anderson as Lucy, and Tristen Metcalf as Eythl with the big heart and everything. It looks really good! I'm pretty sure that we are going to film it in black and white, and also Amanda, Linz, Tristen, Teghan and me, we all went out to Goodwill and the Thrift store to look for some old clothes to wear for it, and I found a blue button down dress, and Tristen found a blue polka dot dress, and we found some old shoes, and even a hat for either Fred or Ricky, and Teghan's first line in Hollywood was "no, not at all", it was so cute. We have been working on our script a lot, like writtin it down, and all of that. But I think that it will be a lot of fun doing this video! I can't wait for it all to be put together! Well talk to you all later!!!

When it's all done, I will post it here so everyone can watch it. Stay tuned! --Gary

Thanks for checking the show - I will be watching......

Okay, the program is called "Amazon Adventures," and it's on the History Channel on Monday the 24th at 7 am and again at 1 pm. (Apparently it has already had a prime-time showing.) It's two hours long and focuses on the Amazon itself and not solely on Roosevelt's expedition as I had thought, though that story is told. A little more info here.

Hmmm, how about John Edwards/Hillary Clinton vs. Rudy Giuliani/Condoleeza Rice in 2008...? Sounds winnable to me! :-)

For the first time in many years, the Senate voted wisely yesterday -- 63 to 37 in favor of stem-cell research. Then, of course, Bush vetoed it. But I bring this up for the local angle: Our own DINO (Democrat In Name Only) Ben Nelson was the only Democrat to vote "Nay" -- right in step with Bush, Santorum, and 35 other Republican senators. Make us proud, Ben!

Wow, I didn't know there was a show coming out about that - it would make a great one. Not nearly as hot here today, yesterday we got to 102. I hope that is the last of the triple digit days for the summer.

Sorry I don't have better info on that; I'll look around for the time and date, etc. Much cooler here today too, and tomorrow even better -- and rainy! I posted below our temp here was 105, but later in the day it hit 108. --Gary

    Gary
    7/20/06
Thanks for the book reviews, Karen. There is something coming up on the History Channel (or maybe Discovery Channel, I forget which) about the Roosevelt expedition to the Amazon. That's a story I didn't know, either, and it sounds interesting.

In case any of you thought these great Bushisms that Amanda has been posting might possibly be fake, just click on the magic phrase -- "What an idiot!!" -- and learn otherwise!

Temperature in Lincoln today: 105. Temperature in Baghdad today: 106.

Good Bushism: "People make suggestions on what to say all the time. I'll give you an example: I don't read what's handed to me. People say, 'Here's your speech,' or 'Here's an idea for a speech.' They're changed. Trust me."
    Gary
    7/18/06
Good luck, Livy! If I get an O, I'll give it to you.

Hey, I also agree with your review of Raising Cane's. It's very good! I didn't miss the ranch -- I liked the Cane's version. And the lemonade was excellent. The "toast" was sorta so-so, and I'd prefer coleslaw or something in its place. But overall, I'm a fan!

Hey everybody! I am so close to maybe getting an ipod from Amigos!!! I am so excited. You have to spell out Amigos from like I think getting a drink, and then they give you a card, and when you open it, you will see a letter that spells Amigos. First I was kind of falling behind, I still needed Migos, because I only had an A, but Amanda, Tristen, Teghan went to Amigos on their camping trip, and they got a M, I, and an S, so then we went there today and got a G! So far I am only missing an O, so Linz might stop by there to see if she can get one. But if I don't get an ipod, I will then get $100 dollars, or like free food, which I have already gotten, and I think maybe a couple different prizes. But I can't wait!!! Well I gotta go, talk to you all later!!!!

    7/17/06
Hey everybody! Well yesturday me and my mom have been looking in all of my magazines and I think we finally know what we are going to do. But I can't really tell you right now, because it will just have to be a secret, I already told Amanda and Linz, so I will not tell anyone else. Anyway, I will just tell you my floor, I will get like a wood floor, and put a really big throw rug and in my closet, we will get like a small really furry one in there. I have picked out my bedding and everything, and I like what I see so far. I also have been taking pictures of the before, during, and then after. We have already started putting things away, like baby stuff on the walls, and all of that, and we are really getting somewhere, I have been cleaning everywhere, and moving like my pink polka dot bean-bag chair, and I think that I either might get another one like in a different color, or like a loveseat, which I saw an aqua blue one, and I really liked that, but it was $300 dollars, but I did see another one that was $500 dollars, but didn't really look that comfy. So I will update you guys, whenever something gets done, and will send some pictures at the end, but it will take just a little while first... So talk to you all later!!!

It is hot enough for me! We were in the 80's at 7 this morning too. I think we hit 100 yesterday. To make matters worse, I think our air conditioner is having problems. It just isn't keeping it cool enough for us in the house. I have all the blinds closed, lights off, fans on and still a bit warm. So I called the repairman this morning, but big surprise it's a two day wait. So hopefully it won't get too bad inside. Not much else going on with us, just staying inside and trying to keep cool.....

Your AC problem may also just be the heat -- both my home AC and my office AC are working harder and longer to keep it cool than they had to last week. Hope it's nothing expensive! --Gary

Me again, with a note about today's cool site. It's called Drawspace.com, and offers online lessons in drawing. I've always wanted to be able to draw better, so I thought this would be good. It requires registration -- which is free, no strings attached. But! I just discovered that you are restricted to viewing only one lesson per month. They offer approximately 120+ lessons, so if you want to see them all it will take you around 10 years! I've decided it's not so "cool" any more. My apologies!
    Gary
    7/17/06
Wow, great news for Beatles fans!
    Gary
    7/17/06
Okay, I'll be the first to say it: Hot enough for you?? This morning at 7 am it was already 84, and humid. Supposed to top 100 today (and same for the rest of the week, I think). There's a heat advisory out, so stay inside if you can. And think on this: It's only 68 days til the first day of fall, 106 days til Halloween, and 161 days til Christmas....

If it's too hot to shop, you might want to try this: You can buy groceries now on Amazon.com! Yeah, I thought it sounded crazy at first, too. But it does start to sort of make sense with gas at $3 a gallon and temperatures at 100+. They only sell non-perishable items, so forget about getting ice cream and milk via UPS (at least for now!). And they seem to sell things in bulk packaging: I saw lots of "package of 6" and "carton of 8" when I browsed around. But the prices seemed pretty reasonable, and the shipping is free if your tab is $25 or higher (and when you're grocery shopping, it always is). Also, they stock a lot of hard to find items that your local market may not carry. Just FYI. Check it out!

Hey everybody! Well ya, I did forget to put that they didn't have any ranch, but someone ate my chicken fingers yesturday! I came home and I was hungry, so I thought that I would eat my chicken fingers, and I looked all over the fridge, but I didn't find them anywhere! I also could've eaten them with ranch this time. I'm pretty sure that Linz ate them, my mom said that she saw Linz going downstairs with a plate of something, and dad said that he didn't even touch them, and I couldn't eat them because I went to Kylie's that next day for her birthday party, so it was only a day old. Anyway, instead of seeing the movie Click, we decided to see Pirates of the Carribean, Dead Man's Chest. It was pretty good, sure a little gory at the beginning, but still worth seeing. I'm even going to write a review about it too. Talk to you all later!!!

Hey everybody! I'm just going to write a small letter because me and Tristen are going to go watch a movie with Teghan upstairs, so I will just write about Raising Cane's! Donna, we dont really see any grillz, and gauging in Sioux City. Rudolfo is doing fine but we keep seeing gray cat hair floating on top of the water. Mr. Debbie still hasn't shown up, I made a popsickle cross and put it in the back yard.

I'll break the news, Sam & Anna are coming here on Sunday the 23rd. Me & Linz are meeting Marsha in Ames to get them for a week! Yaay!

How is Rudolpho? Any sign of Mr. Debbie yet?

    Have you heard this yet?

Ex-CIA operative Valerie Plame sues Vice President Cheney, his former aide, Scooter Libby, and presidential adviser Karl Rove.

No way! I'll hit the news channels right now. This will be fun. :-) --Gary

Hey Livy! (And any other interested parties) Guess what opens tonight at 6 pm? That's right, Raising Cane's! I just went by there, and they were polishing doorknobs and cleaning windows; I asked if they were open yet and the guy said, "Six tonight!" Gee, after all this build-up I hope the food's good. :-)

Donna, grillz are kinda like braces (on your teeth) only removable and have things like dollar signs on them and gauging is when you get your ear pierced but instead of the normal sized whole its alot bigger. Emily will get her senior pics. taken tomarrow and she is really excited about them!!
    Donna
    7/11/06
I heard on the news this morning that the Dallas schools are banning grills and gauging. Does anyone know what these are? I'll give you a hint: it has to do with their dress code.
    Gary
    7/11/06
Livy sent me this explanation of her remark on today's crawl: "Me, my dad, Grandma, Tristen, and Teghan were all around the table, and Tristen had one of those barbie heads where you can do stuff to their head. Tristen saw a clip thing and wanted to put it in my dad's head, and I was eating an apple, and I wanted to play with her hair, and so I said, 'Hey, you finished with that head?' My dad and Amanda thought it would sound like a cop show, or something like that."
    Donna
    7/10/06

Olivia, one of your dreams has finally come true. I heard that every Tuesday night at the Parthenon (Greek restaurant) you can bring your dog to dine with you--outside. Wouldn't Ceaser just love to have you take him out to dinner?
    Karen
    7/10/06
Boy, long time since I have written anything. Just isn't much going on with us. Emily has been working long and hard days -- don't see much of her. She does have tomorrow and Wednesday off. She has been shopping for clothes for her senior pictures. I think she has finally decided on her choices. Erika is pretty sad, poor Mr Debbie never did come back. She had a project of eating popsickles so she could make a mini memorial for him in the back yard. She did get to have some fun on Saturday -- she was invited to a pool/birthday party for one of her friends. They rented out one of the city pools for the party, so they were the only ones there. It's a great pool with lots of slides and fountains. Usually it's so crowded you can't get to the slides so it was nice to be able to use it as much as you wanted. Brent is feeling great -- really enjoying being able to eat whatever he wants :) His mom had back surgery in SC last week so we have been spending lots of time with his family. The waterbed arrived last week and it is great. I did have to get a little step stool so I can get in and out of it. It is a bit higher than the bed we had before. But it's worth it! It is soooo comfortable.
Gary I enjoyed the videos on the web page you had from the 4th -- fun to see. I'm glad you saw that movie -- it was a good one -- thought Mom would especially like it. I remember Pee Wee's Playhouse -- I used to make Emily watch it with me -- we always liked the part with the word of the day -- you had to scream when you said it. Well I think that catches me up with all of my news. Erika and I are off to run a few errands and maybe out for lunch......
    Gary
    7/10/06
    Happy Monday, y'all.
--I mentioned below that there was a fire just a few blocks from my house on the 4th, and I finally drove by it over the weekend. A big wooden two-story house, a block up and a block over from me -- still standing, but the house is a loss. The front was totally blackened, windows blown or broken out, and the whole lot was taped off with yellow tape. I understand an out-of-control firecracker went under their porch and the fire started from there.
--Karen, thanks again for your review of "The Prize Winner." We watched it on Saturday -- good movie!
--And speaking of movies, Lindsey has sent in a couple more reviews (thanks, Lindsey!), and I sent in one myself: I saw Superman Returns this weekend.
--Finally, stop reading now or prepare to feel old: Starting tonight, the Cartoon Channel (channel 33 in Lincoln) will begin showing all the old episodes of "Pee-Wee's Playhouse," the great Pee-Wee Herman Saturday-morning show which first aired (get ready) twenty years ago. How can it be twenty years?? Anyway, it's a great show, so you might want to set your Tivo to record the entire series. The episodes air at 11:30 pm and again at 1:30 am.

Anyone who thinks that the U.S. plans to leave Iraq after it becomes a working democracy ought to read this. It details the construction of the new American Embassy in Bagdad: Covering 104 acres (80 football fields, larger than the Mall of America, and nearly the size of the Vatican), surrounded by 15-foot walls, and costing nearly $600 million (though who knows what anything this government does really costs). It will house a staff of 8000, not including 619 luxury apartments for visiting VIPs; plus restaurants, shops, a gym and swimming pool, food court, beauty salon, movie theater, and evening club. It will be completely self-sufficient, having its own water and power source. There's more, and it's just obscene. Do read the article!

Happy Nonae Caprotina, everyone! In ancient Rome, today was a big holiday celebrated with outdoor feasting and picnicing. The city's slave-women would lead a procession to a fig tree (the spot was located near where the hotel I stayed in is today). Religious rituals were observed, and then the rest of the day was spent in sports and feasting. Everyone would pack up baskets of food and head for the parks in the city or to the hills outside the city (in the area roughly where the Vatican is now). People would bring tents or rig up shelters with branches so they could stay out all night, and the next day there would be a special feast of thanksgiving. The holiday celebrated an event in Roman history where the city was saved from destruction -- and saved not by its army, but by slave-women. Therefore this holiday especially honored women and slaves.

Here's what happened: Rome at this time (about 2400 years ago) was not yet the mighty "Roman Empire" -- it was instead just the city of Rome itself. It was recovering from a long but unsuccessful assault by barbarian Gauls from the north. One of Rome's neighboring cities decided to take advantage of Rome's weakened condition by making a demand: Give us all your high-born women or we'll destroy your city. While the Senate debated what to do, a slave-woman named Tutula took the matter into her own hands: With a group of other slave-women dressed as free women, she went to the enemy army. The enemy army immediately began to celebrate their "victory" and got drunk. After they had fallen asleep the slave-girls took their weapons, and Tutula climbed a nearby wild fig tree and waved a torch as a signal for the Romans to attack. This they did, and as a reward for the resulting victory, the Senate gave each slave-woman who participated her freedom, as well as a generous dowry. After that, in remembrance of the victory, the Nonae Caprotina were celebrated. (In Latin caproficus means "fig tree," and "Nonae Caprotina" means roughly "Days of the Wild Fig Tree.") Just a little bit of Roman history for you!

Hey everybody! Yesturday Tristen came to my piano lesson, and she said that she wants to come back next week, because she has 2 cats and a puppy, and there was also a little kitten that she was going to take care of for her cousin, because they went on a trip, and I think she said it was a syimese. But Anna (my piano teacher's name) gave Tristen a little red light to play with her, because Pimbo (kitten) liked to play with that, and she would play with him in the living room while I would practice my songs. Then Amanda came to pick Tristen up because she was going to go eat at ihop for dinner with Kathy and Steve and they (Tristen and Teghan) spent the night last night. So then me and my mom went to go get our hair cut by Tina (our hairstylist's name). I got my bangs cut, and about an inch off my hair. Well I gotta go, I'm going to go feed Ceaser and Max, talk to you all later!!!

Hey everybody! Gary, I saw the videos and the pictures, the Tehgan ones were really cute. But I'm just a little surprised that she said Taylor was her best friend, but I thought that she would say whitey skirt too. :) But I did like the last video, of that 25 shot thing, I don't know what they are called. It was really fun! But what I can't wait for is when Raising Canes opens, I so want to go there, Gary, do you think they have a website for that place yet? Me and Kylie were looking up Paint Yourself Silly, because she wanted to go to Paint Yourself Silly for her birthday party, but it said something like 16 dollars for like a person or something like that, she said that it was too expensive. Well first, she wanted to go horseback riding, and Tristen wanted to go with, but her mom said that she couldn't really find a good place to go horseback riding. So she thinks that we might go up to a waterpark in Omaha, but she doesn't really know yet, so I don't know what we are doing for her birthday. I think we might blow off a couple of smoke bombs, since me, Tristen and Teghan all like to run through them, but I don't know if we are. Talk to you all later!!!

Your wish is my command, Livy. Here's the Raising Cane's site. Be sure to click on "Why the Dog" (as if you wouldn't, duh!), because it will make you like the place even more. For everyone else, here's the back story: On the corner of 48th and R (I think -- across the street west of Best Buy), there is a building project that Livy has been keeping tabs on for months. The sign describes it as a fast-food chicken-finger place called "Raising Cane's" and it features a picture of a dog wearing sunglasses. Livy cannot wait for the place to open -- and it should be soon. It's almost done! --Gary

Hi everyone, last night was a little crazy. I am also a little concerned about the Sioux City Police Department, because there is suppose to have zero tolerance here, but there were fireworks off so loud I swear they were bombs. Napoleon and T.J. (the outside cats) were so scared last night. I was out on the porch last night and T.J. was just shaking so I let them go in the basement for about 30 min., and when it was time to take them both outside I really didn't want to be outside either, but they'll get over it eventually.

Lots of bad craziness out there last night. It was wild -- the noise was just continuous from 9 til midnight. Hadn't heard yet about the deck fire; the number of emergency vehicles on the scene sure made it look major.

Hey, are the movies on the photo page working for everybody? First time I've tried this, so let me know if any of you have trouble seeing them.

Erika, how did your cats like the 4th? I thought maybe all the noise would scare Mr. Debbie back home...? :-)

Gary, I heard on the news this morning that a firework spark landed on some dry leaves under a deck starting a huge fire. I bet that's what you drove by last night. I also heard that some of the fireworks were so big they were setting off car alarms. And did you hear about the guy that was driving with fireworks in his lap and was either lighting them and throwing them out the window or he was smoking, I can't remember, anyway he end up with burns on 20% of his body. What an idiot.

Just got back from a fun 4th at Grandma's house. Amanda, Tristen & Teghan got back from their weekend around 7, Lindsey and Livy came over around 7:30, and Sean arrived around 9. And from 7:30 til 11 it was continuous fireworks. A great show! Smoke bombs and parachutes and poppers in the daylight hours, and after dark the big guns came out. Everybody had a great time -- except for Sasha and Zooey, and the neighborhood birds and squirrels. And also except for some of my neighbors: As I neared my house tonight, there was a 4-block area cordoned off by cop cars; there were half a dozen fire trucks visible, plus other emergency vehicles; and I saw two fire hydrants with big firehoses hooked up and pumping water (though no fire was then visible). Fireworks-related? I didn't find out, but one has to assume.... Even though I was only a block or two from home, the flashing lights and cordoned-off streets were so disorienting I drove right past my house, and had to circle back around. Hope you all made it through the 4th safe and sound....

    Happy 4th!

We had a nice early dinner of grilled chicken, green bean & potato salad, pasta salad and cupcakes. Lots of noisy fireworks the past couple of days but it's been a nice relaxing day. It sounds like the Metcalfs had a fun getaway, Paul & Lori's too!

Erika, if the city gives you any trouble, use this quote in court. It is from Thomas Jefferson, and he says the 4th should be celebrated not only with fireworks ("illuminations") but bonfires and gunfire, two other things probably banned by the city! Good luck!
[The fourth day of] July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.

Hi everyone, tonight we will shoot off our illegal fireworks like Emily said, but really they can't actually expect us to stick to the legal fireworks because the only fireworks they let us do in Iowa are: smokeballs (not even crackle balls), snaps, sparklers, and snakes. They shouldn't even get mad at us for shooting off any fireworks because, all we are doing is celebrating our country. I should bring that fact up when dads getting arrested tonight. On a sadder note we are now down to 4 cats. :( Mr. Debbie left 10 days ago and we havent seen him since. The thing thats really sad is how his brother and sister are taking it.

Hey everybody! Yesturday me and dad were setting off some fireworks in the drive-way and we had like crackle bombs, smoke bombs, and stuff. First, we tied a smoke bomb and a crackle bomb together, and that was really cool, and then we tied a crackle bomb with one of those things that spin around and light up. Then dad asked me if I had an old bottle or something like that, and I had 4 bottles that I though out the other day from my fridge and so we cut off the top, and we lite a smoke bomb in there, and the bottle shrunk, and got all bubbly, and also turned yellow on the inside. Ew I know. Then we tried putting a crackle bomb on the top of it, which blew up the whole top. Then we threw them in the air, then dad started to get a little crazy after that. He would have me go and ask mom if we could put a smoke bomb or a crackle bomb in the toilet. Then he asked my mom if we could put a smoke bomb or a crackle bomb in the neibhoor's gutter, the mean neighbors, and she said that it's not advisible. So then we took a crackle bomb inside of the little cap of the bottle, so it would stay, and we set it on there, and it left a black spot where it was sitting... :) It was fun, so we took an old piece of gutter from our backyard and we set stuff in there. Later that night, we set off a couple more. It was a blast, so I guess I will talk to you all later!!!

Today we did a little more shopping & swimming & went to P.F. Chang's for dinner. Hands down, the best chinese we ever had. We got spring rolls for an appetizer (should have got the lettuce wraps, its what I wanted and every single table seemed to be getting them). I got Mongolian Beef, Ryan got Kung Pao Shrimp & the girls both got chicken with chinese noodles. We got the Great Wall of Chocolate cake for dessert. It was all VERY good.
Tristen has gone to Claire's twice in two days & both times she raided the 10 items for $10. She has spent $20 & gotten 20 things. Best Claire's purchases yet! She got some things for herself, for Teghan & Olivia & for the vet shop. Teghan got some shoes today that she is in love with. We were at Penney's getting some shoes for Ryan & she found them. She even asked the lady, "are these on sale?" It was SO cute, we had to let her get them. She wore them the rest of the night & has been cheesin in them ever since. We'll get pix.

Sounds like everyone had a fun weekend, any big plans for the 4th yet?? We crossed the border for our fireworks yesterday. We have done a few this afternoon, but will save most of them for tomorrow. Hopefully no one will get arrested this year!
Congrats on the excellent grades Ryan! Sounds like you enjoyed your Chemistry class far more than I did, I'm glad I am finally done with that class! What classes do you have now?
Erika and I also picked up our dance pictures on Friday. I think they turned out pretty nicely, and we will be sure to send them in later tonight! [Here they are! --Gary]

    Happy 4th everyone!

Hey everybody! Yesturday my dad, my mom, Linz and me, we all went on a little road trip to Missori, we went shopping in the Zona Rosa, and they had LOTS of places to shop, they had almost anything you could thinck of there. We got there at about noon, so we ate at some Irish place called like O'Dowdds, I don't know how to spell it, but they had great food there! I didn't really know what sport was playing on the t.v. by us, but Linz said that it might be Rugbee, and I don't know how to spell that either, but after we ate, we went up to the top, and it was really nice up there, they had a bar, and we could have eaten up there, but we didn't know if it would be too hot, but it was a nice temp. Then while my mom and dad went to go shop, me and Linz went the other way to go find some things. We shopped at Hollister, Ambercrombie and Fitch, Areopostal, Forever 21, this one Sunglasses place, but I new that Linz would not be buying from there today, because I saw 1 really weird (ugly) pair that was $275 dollars, so ya, they were pricy... But we did hear a Tristen and Teghan song, Bad Day was playing in there. Anyway, we had a lot of fun, then after all of that, we met our parents at a bar, and then we went to Coldstone, and the Cookie Factory. Then we faced a long trip home, when we got home, me and Linz put on a little fashion show for our parents, and Ceaser and Max too, then we were playing with Ceaser and Max for a while, and I called Kylie last night before I went fell asleep, and we talked for a little while, but not long, because I couldn't call her on that whole trip untill we got past Nebraska City, because I was roaming, so I tried to stay away from my phone. Well I think my dad let in Ceaser and Max, so I'm going to go play with them now, talk to you all later!!!

I just got my grades for this semester (Summer I). Let me remind you that this was an accelerated 5 week course. Chem Class B, Chem Lab A, Geog A, and Humn A. I'm very pleased with my outcome thus far. I will have 3 classes in Summer II but only 1 will be in class. I hope to do well in this semester too. Talk to you later!

Well, we got to Wichita OK today. We all got here at about 2:40. We checked into our hotel, and after a slight misunderstanding with Expedia, we changed rooms. We are settled in & talking about plans for the night. We are going to go see Cars, the theater is almost right next door! It's hot here, and there is an itty-bitty pool, but its water!
